U.S. Embassy celebrates the 232nd Independence Day of the United States of America

Ambassador Barbara Barrett hosted well over one thousand Finnish and international guests at the U.S. independence Day celebration held on June 18. In her remarks, Ambassador Barrett said the celebration was “for every independent nation that today enjoys liberty, freedom and hope.” She discussed the circumstances of  the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence and quoted Socrates who said that “the beginning is the most important part.” “Still in the U.S., we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and they are endowned by their Creator with certain unalienable rights and among those are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That is what we are here to celebrate today,” Ambassador Barrett said.
